Eagle Glen Neighorhood – Woodstock Ga Homes for Sale

Do you know about Eagle Glen Neighborhood.  It a terrific community near Eagle Dr and Putman Ford Rd in Woodstock, GA and part of the Towne Lake area.  Conveniently located to I-575, Eagle Glen neighborhood is a swim/tennis community.  Homes for sale in Eagle Glen range for $170,000 to $220,000.  Styles are traditional 2 story, ranch, and raised ranch.  Depending on the lot the home may have a terrace level basement.  Some basements will be finished, some will be unfinished. 

The neighborhood is comprised of winding streets and numerous cul-de-sac lots.  In addition to swim and tennis, there is a nice playground at the clubhouse area.   There are approximately 200 homes in the community.  Area Cherokee County schools are Carmel Elementary, Woodstock Middle, and Woodstock High.

Towne Lake, A Master Plan Community – Woodstock, GA

Towne Lake is a master-planned community developed in the late 80s, West of downtown Woodstock and East of Lake Allatoona.  The community was developed as an upscale residential area with two golf courses, shopping areas,  and golf communities.  Today, you can find starter homes up to large executive homes.  The most notable neighborhood is Eagle Watch.  This golf course community was developed by Arvida and features a Arnold Palmer golf course.  The other golf course, Towne Lake Hills, is also a residential golf neighborhood.  Other neighborhoods within the master plan area are Parkview, The Arbors, Rose Creek, The Fairways and Wyngate.

The area has numerous schools with the Towne Lake area…Bascomb Elementary, Woodstock Elementary, ET Booth Middle, Woodstock Middle, Etowah High, and Woodstock High.  Rose Creek Library is off  Towne Lake Parkway and Hobgood Park is off Eagle Drive.

Within the community there are movies, numerous restaurants including one of our personal  favorites…La Parrilla, and all kinds of shopping.  Nearby you will find all the big box stores and Town Center Mall.  One of the outstanding features of the Towne Lake area is it’s proximity to Lake Allatoona and the North Georgia mountains for recreation.

Towne Lake has easy access to I-575 and I-75.  If you are looking for a community within a community Towne Lake may be the place for you.

Presently working with someone who wants to downsize due to kids growing up and not wanting to take care of a large home and yard.  Suggested they may want to look at an active adult community.  The response was I want my own place.  So what is an active adult community?


An active adult community is a neighborhood built primarily for mature adults.  Some neighborhoods have age restrictions; however, most do not in the metro Atlanta area.  When these communities are initially marketed by the builder, their advertising emphasizes the features attractive to active adults and does not encourage families with children.  Continue reading here…

Roswell GA Parks and Recreation Excels

Was taking a look at the Roswell GA city website and found a wealth of information on the various activities available for both residents and non-residents (who can pay a bit more to participate).  roswell-ga-winter-activities-programRoswell has some great facilities including East Roswell Park, Hembree Park and the Roswell Area Park.  In addition, there are numerous activities for Active Adults (50+) at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center.

Year round there are seasonal sports leagues for youth and adults, plus classes for a variety of interests from dance, fitness, drawing and painting, photography, crafts and more.  Check out the Winter activity brochure for details on activities, times and cost.

Arts Center Planned for Woodstock GA

It looks like a recently neglected property that was a victim of the economic downWoodstock GA downtown homesturn in Woodstock GA now has a chance to become a major attraction and asset for the city.  The Woodstock City Council has approved a memorandum of understanding to turn a foreclosed property on Elm Street just west of downtown into a cultural arts complex.

The proposed Elm Street Cultural Arts Village would include a visual arts center for galleries and exhibits, a “black box” theater for acting and intimate performances plus four acres of undeveloped greenspace for recreation and outdoorevents.  The greenspace would connect to a portion of the Greenprints Alliance Trails, a county-wide system of walking and biking trails that we’ve written about in the past.  The property also has an approximately 100 year-old home with a spacious front porch that would be renovated and turned into the arts center. 

The City Council plans to meet with representatives of the Town Lake Arts Center to develop a formal plan to present to the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners to request funds to purchase the property.  If approved, funding would come from the county’s $90 million parks bond. 

While this project is still in its early stages, city leadership seems to be fully on board, so we’ll be closely following future developments.

Updated Road Conditions from the City of Milton

If you live or work in metro Atlanta, you know doubt had concerns about the cold weather Milton GA city sealand driving conditions the last few days.  And maybe, like me, you find it easy to criticize our local governments. 

However, I wanted to take a minute to compliment the City of Milton for providing timely email updates about the conditions of our local roads during the snow and ice event.  I recently signed up to be on the City of Milton’s mailing list and was pleasantly surprised to receive daily updates on the condition of the various roads around the city.

The Milton GA city website also contains useful information about the various city departments, schools, maps and even a “live feed” of city council meetings.  So, if you live or work in the Milton area, take a moment to sign up for their RSS feeds or their mailing list so that you can keep up with the latest news about the area.

Nettlebrook Farms – Milton Ga

Nettlebrook Farms is small community of  about 40 homes in Milton, Ga 30004, located at the corner of Thompson Road and Redd Road.  The large lots on rolling hills creates a beautiful and interesting setting.  Many of the homes have large wrap around porches – the perfect place to start your day with a cup of coffee or relax at the end of the day.  The wide streets and numerous cul-de-sacs make for great evening strolls and neighborhood visiting.

Features of many homes include 5+ Bedrooms, Master Suites, Large Keeping Room Kitchens, Wood Floors, 3 car garages, screened porches or large decks, and finished terrace levels. Lots can range from 1 to 4 acres.  The neighborhood amenities include a clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts.  You will find several outstanding golf courses within 5 to 10 miles of this home.

Looking for a simpler life?  Perhaps an active adult community with ranch condos might be perfect place.  The Orchards of Windward is a wonderful community off Highway 9 between Windward Parkway and Bethany Road.  These two and three bedroom single level homes are just the right size.  High ceilings, heavy moldings, and attention to details make these homes warm and inviting.  Fireside Great Rooms and sunrooms give you space to spread out.  42 inch cabinets in the kitchen provide plenty of storage.  All homes have a two car garage and driveway for parking.
